PulseTiles

Window snapping for macOS

Windows that snap into place.

Hold ⌘ and drag a window onto a zone, press a shortcut, or pick a spot from the launcher. PulseTiles puts it exactly where you want it, on every display.

Animation: on a MacBook, the cursor opens the PulseTiles menu bar dropdown and clicks Left half, Top right and Bottom right, snapping Safari, Notes and Music into a tidy layout.

HOW IT WORKS

Three ways to snap.

However you like to move windows, PulseTiles meets you there.

Hold ⌘ and drag

Drag any window with ⌘ held and the screen becomes a grid of zones. Let go on one to snap. Plain drags still move freely.

⌘drag

⌃⌥ shortcuts

Halves, quarters, thirds, maximize and center, all one shortcut away. Press ⌃⌥← again to step through ½, ⅓ and ⅔.

Right ⌘ + / launcher

Forgot a shortcut? Open the launcher, type “left” or use the arrow keys, then press Return.

⌘-DRAG ZONES

See where it lands.

Hold ⌘ while you drag and the screen turns into a grid: halves and thirds at the sides, quarters in the corners, center in the middle. A soft teal outline shows exactly where the window will land before you let go.

  • 11 zones
  • Live preview
  • Plain drags stay free

Animation: windows are dragged with ⌘ held. The PulseTiles zone grid appears, the zone under the cursor lights up teal with a preview, and on release Safari snaps to the left half, Notes to the top right and Music to the bottom right.

Animation: the PulseTiles General settings. The gap between windows slider moves from 4 to 16 px and the screen edge gap from 10 to 22 px, and the live preview's tiles spread apart in step. Then “Repeat shortcut cycles sizes” is switched on and the half, third and two-thirds chips light up in turn.

SETTINGS

Tune it to your desk.

Gaps, padding, which apps never snap and what happens when you pull a window back out. Set it once and forget about it.

  • Gaps between windows
  • Gap at screen edges
  • Almost-maximize padding
  • Restore when dragged out
  • Repeat to cycle
  • Apps that never snap
  • Launch at login
A LITTLE MORE ORGANIZED

Snap more than one window.

Animation: three messy windows. The PulseTiles menu opens, the Coding arrangement is clicked, and Xcode, Safari and Notes glide into a two-thirds and one-third layout.

ARRANGEMENTS

Your whole desk, one click.

Set up your windows once and save them as an arrangement. Apply it from the menu bar or its own shortcut, and every app goes back where it belongs.

Animation: in PulseTiles Shortcuts settings, the Left half key chip is clicked, shows Press new keys, then records Control Option Left Arrow and shows a tick.

CUSTOM SHORTCUTS

Keys that fit your hands.

Record any shortcut for any snap. PulseTiles points out clashes and keys another app already uses, and you can reset to the defaults any time.

Animation: four messy windows. Control Option Command T is pressed and the windows tile: the focused window on the left, the other three stacked on the right.

TILE THIS DISPLAYBETA

Full tiling, when you ask.

Turn it on and press ⌃⌥⌘T: the focused window takes the left, the rest stack on the right. It never runs on its own.

PulseTiles moves windows, and that’s all it does. There’s no sign-up, no analytics, no newsletter and no subscription. It only goes online to check for updates and to activate your licence key with Lemon Squeezy.

macOS asks for Accessibility permission because that’s the only way an app can move other apps’ windows. A friendly welcome tour walks you through it in a minute.
